Got Milk? The state fair does!

Milk is the absolute favorite beverage of choice for my kidders. Chocolate? Even better!
So you can't imagine how happy this momma was to have ready access to such a nutritious and delicious choice during our recent visit to the Indiana State Fair.
Which was made even better because the chocolate milk from the dairy bar sure cooled us down in the hot, sweltering heat of the day!
Don't they look happy enjoying their chocolate milk in the hog barn while we celebrate the Year of the Pig?
And after a delicious lunch of grilled cheese sandwiches and BBQ pork (provided by Indiana dairy farmers and pork farmers), and icy cold milkshake sure hit the spot!
Now fairs sport a wide array and interesting variety of foods: we saw signs for fried Pepsi and fried butter along with "pigs in mud" (chocolate-covered bacon)....check out Whitney's pics and proof if you don't believe me. She was even brave enough to try a "donut burger."
But doesn't it make a momma feel good to find such delicious (and cool) yumminess that's also full of nutrients and not fried? Now I'll grant you that a milkshake may not be the most nutritious choice on the midway...but there's nothing wrong with it in moderation. And besides, the nutrients in there sure beat the heck out of some sugary pop of mix. Momma may need her Coke Zero, but the kidders do not.

I thought so!

Big thanks to Indiana Dairy and Indiana Pork for providing our meals at the Indiana State Fair...and Indiana Soybean Alliance for providing the tickets. :)

  1. Great Post! Don't think we are going to get the girls to the fair this year, but I am putting it on their bucket list for next year. I will be there the 17th so I am checking out all the yummies in between work schedules. I may also pass along a few of your links to promote our great farms who always work hard, but in this heat deserve extra pats on the back, especially the livestock farmers!

  4. So, I have heard about the deep fried butter, but I am trying to imagine deep fried Pepsi? How do they do that? The pigs in the mud probably wouldn't be too bad, I love State fairs and your kiddo's are darling by the way! Thanks for stopping by!

  5. We loved the chocolate milk too except for Big Sissy. She is a white milk fan. I'm sorry we didn't get to spend more time, really any time, together at the fair, but glad to see you all had fun in the heat.
