Contain Yourself!

Do you have the same problem I do? There's never enough places to put all of my kids' stuff...so they find a place for it. Usually on the floor, which drives me nuts. So one day I was looking at my coffee cans and thought, "Hey, these would be perfect for putting some stuff in!" So here's what I did:
Yes, the Modge Podge is still drying and this one was a sugar container and not a coffee container, but you get the idea. I used some of the extra plastic spray paint I had from my lawn chair makeover and set to work.
I used 2 large coffee cans, 1 small coffee can, 1 large Nesquick can and a Dominoes sugar can.
Knowing what I now know about the crappy-coverage conspiracy of the red plastic spray paint, I was at least smart enough to use it only on the red Folgers cans...where I just wanted a slightly different shade of red.
Here we are after my initial shot of paint...then I went back and painted again until I got a pretty even, consistent coverage.

Now that I had re-usable containers, I needed a little structure/organization. I was excited to break out my new Cricut for it's second project ever and use my brand new Creative Memories Cheerful Seasons cartridge with it.
I just cut out the letters I needed in the size I wanted (which was pretty much a learning process for me...but I figure if I can figure it out, it must not be too hard. Then Modge Podged them in place...
I made one container for Sissy's Littlest Pet Shop animals to live in...
 One for our crayons...
One for Baby Boy's Star Wars figurines...
One for Bubby's Star Wars figures...
And one to keep out glue bottles and sticks in for those important homework assignments...
Overall, I'm super pleased. And I have 2 new containers saved up to try it again soon!

  6. Thanks for the tips. BTW that thing on the right side of your site makes it nearly impossible to scroll.
