Perfect Pumpkin Pickin'

Poor Bubby is home sick today. He caught something from Baby Boy...but as it usually goes, it seems much worse for him. A fever of 103 last night means no school for him today. And that means no field trip. The rest of his classmates are spending the day at a dairy farm followed by a trip to an Amish pumpkin patch.

He's bummed to be missing the time with his friends, but he says it's ok...because we already picked out pumpkins for the year...plus he gets more time playing Lego Star Wars on the Wii...it's his obsession. He may not be going with his friends, but like them, we picked our pumpkins fresh from the farm...and a dairy farm to boot.
We picked up our pumpkins up from our neighbors over at R-N-R Swiss. They had all the pumpkins all picked and ready to go on a hay wagon right by the road. How convenient is that?
Here's Sissy with her 2 picks. They were so excited...they'd been ooh-ing and aah-ing over the pumpkins ever since the wagon started to fill up...
Yes, Baby Boy has a problem keeping his pants pulled up. But he's still cute!
And here's Bubby making his selections. After all the pumpkins were picked and paid for (17 in all)...and the momma had a lighter purse...we were invited into the parlor during milking for the kids to get an up-close-and personal look at where their milk comes from. I may have mentioned it before, but my kids love milk. It's their number one beverage of choice.

All in all, it was a great time and the kids are thrilled with their pumpkins and loved seeing the cows. In fact, Baby Boy thought he should use them to practice his bull riding skills on them. Not exactly what our neighbors had in mind, I'm sure. Can't wait until it's time to carve these babies up!

  2. I love those trailers parked by the side of the road! We went to a huge orchard/pumpkin patch, but the pumpkins were so expensive, we didn't buy any. We picked some up on the way home and put our cash in the coffee can!

  4. Sorry to hear Bubby is sick ;-( Sounds, though, like he has just enough energy to have a little fun between rests! We need to carve our pumpkins too, but I have no clue when. This weekend is nuts! Maybe something will open up!

    Have a good one.
