Snacks so easy it's scary

Forgive my lack of pictures. My three "helpers" made me forgetful. But on Sunday afternoon, they helped me whip up some super easy snacks for Halloween. Snacks so easy it's downright scary.

First up on the agenda: chocolate covered marshmallow sticks. My bloggy buddy Leslie is like the Queen of Halloween and has been making awesome Halloween things for months. Last week she made these adorable chocolate covered marshmallows:
Aren't they cute? I knew my kids would love them. I mean, these kids will devour an entire bag of marshmallows in one sitting. But I was out of green chocolate and lollipop sticks...so I pulled out my kabob sticks and chocolate chips. And I stacked the marshmallows three deep...
Then I melted some chocolate chips on the stovetop. This pic is right before the helpers helped me burn the chocolate. Sinful, I know. Next batch we melted in the microwave to reduce the risk of burning and it was much better. Now some folks add shortening to their melted chocolate to improve the melty texture. I like butter, 'cuz, well, it's butter. Butter makes everything better.
So we dipped the marshmallows and set them on foil lined cookie sheets to cool while we broke out these little treats: tombstone and ghost sprinkles I picked up for 20¢ each on clearance at Wal Mart last year. And that's where the photos stop. So use your imagination, ok?
The looked adorable, and I stored them in a lovely old green Ball jar...which made them look even cuter. I really wish I had a picture to share of how cute they were.

In typical Jane fashion, i had melted too much chocolate (if there is such a thing as too much chocolate), so we used the rest to dip Ritz crackers in, and Sissy added some sprinkles to those, too. Yum!

And my last little Halloween snack I'm making tonight to have for pumpkin carving tomorrow?

Aren't those cute? Super easy, and the recipe is here.

Do you have a favorite Halloween snack?

  2. How cute! For some reason I can't get into Halloween this year, and I love Halloween! These are simple enough though that I'd actually have time for this!! Thanks for sharing.
