So today I want to share one of my favorite Christmas traditions: the great bid old rodeo-lovin' Christmas tree my mom puts up each year. I admit, the ladies in our family might be slightly addicted to Christmas ornaments and Christmas trees. This year in our home alone, each of the kids had their own tree along with my big Disney-themed tree....with lots of ornaments showing up in other places around the house and still more waiting patiently in their boxes for next year. My mom's house sported a tree of ornaments decorated by my kids, a 6' tree of sports ornaments for my brother, and the mammoth 10' rodeo tree:
I love that it's so tall and ginormous and reaches all the way to the tippy top of the extra tall ceilings in our 100+ year old farm house...
The big train puffing around the base is a recent addition to designed to transport my boys to a wonderland. My handy dandy brother even made a base for the train tracks this year.
My brother meticulously buys all of the Breyer Horse collectible ornaments for my mom each year....
Horses, cowboys, and all other things western-y are the only ornaments allowed.
That includes Santa cruising in his Mustang with his cowboy hat.
I love the hand-painted ornaments, too.
Especially the ones hand-made by family friends from far away.
And Baby Boy loves the bucking bull ornaments, too....also acquired my my little brother as Christmas gifts for my mom.
I love the bucking horses and rocking horses...
And the Lone Ranger riding to the rescue on board Silver...
And who doesn't love a good pair of chaps?
Even Santa takes time out from the holiday bustle to two-step his missus around the Christmas tree.
I hear Santa's pretty handy with a rope, too...
And if the reindeer ever need a vacation, his team of horses is all ready to go....
So we frolic and play, the cowboy way as we go walking in our winter wonderland.
Great post! I hope P-dub's Marlborough Man is doing ok without his chaps this winter ;-) I need more trees in my house to do themed ones, but I have the decorations to do it. I will have to sneak them in on Tall Guy as he believes one is well more than enough!
ReplyDeleteJane didn't know they made all the ornaments you showed. Pretty Cool tree. I have a few table top trees with lights but one is enough for me.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and your family
So cute. We kinda love Christmas trees and ornaments at this house too. Big Sissy, Bubby, and Little Sissy each have their own tree in addition to our big family tree.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to see some of the farm wives at the AFBF convention soon. Will you be there? I love your rodeo tree. We have four trees up at our house, two fresh and two fake. The only "themed" one is the pink tree in Miss E's room. She is keeping up through Easter we decided. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post Jane! I love the ornaments..they are just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHappy new year to you and your family!!
I love a themed christmas tree. Looks liek you have some great ornaments.
ReplyDeleteWow what fun ornaments and tree. We weren't involved in farming but have been on the cow/calf producing side of agriculture.
ReplyDeleteOur son's tree is western as he's all cowboy.
Our daughter's was purple with all pretty stuff.
Our tree was stuffed to the brim with ornaments as the Renegades and I try and make some each year. This year we got a little carried away but man was it fun.
