Santa sirens?

We heard the sirens.

Was it a fire? A car accident? Was someone injured?

Nope. It was just the Santa sirens!

We were visiting with friends in north Florida before heading to Disney World, and in their little community, the fire truck heralds the arrival of Santa with their sirens blaring as they make their way up and down all the streets and roads in the community, delivering Santa right to the door (or driveway as the case may be) of expectant children's homes.

I was reminded to post these pictures after reading Katie's post about fire engines & Santa at On the Banks of Squaw Creek....
In this case, Santa is preceded around town by a firetruck, alerting all that Santa is on the way. Next comes Santa Claus, giving the reindeer a break by riding around on a flatbed trailer pulled by a pickup.

The trailer is full of stuffed animals, and after telling Santa their most sincere Christmas wishes, Sissy & Bubby each got to pick one to take home with them. How sweet, right?

Santa was duly impressed that Bubby & Sissy drove all night from Ohio to Florida for a visit.

Then he drove out of sight as the sirens wailed "Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!"

Then I think he headed for the beach. I would have.

  2. This reminds me of growing up - Santa always arrived on a fire truck! The year I had my tonsils out the week before Christmas he drove right out to our house with my sack of goodies!
