Now I love timers with my kids (it's a FlyLady thing), so when I first say this, I thought, "Hmmmm..." Thoughts of it kept tickling my brain for days. I loved the idea of three separate timers for my three separate kids. Finally I broke down, bit the bullet and placed my order.
It came this week and I love it! The only initial problem I had was that it needed a AAA battery for each timer, which I had to wait until I went to the store to get. But once my batteries were in place, wowsers!
I labeled one for each of the kidders so they know which one is which. Each timer has a clip to clip onto their pants and a coil band so it can go around their wrist, too. Now Baby Boy refuses to carry his with him, but I set it for him and hang the wristband over a hook in his room. I've used it for quiet reading time, room cleaning, time out, and rest time.
Of course, the rest time was after Baby Boy had to spend 15 minutes with me picking up in his room. We barely started when he grabbed his back and told me he couldn't pick up any more toys because his back hurt. I told him how sorry I was, and that after our 15 minutes of picking up, he better lay down for 15 minutes to rest his back. He was not thrilled with that response! lol
It's perfect...if for no other reason than the kids are not asking me constantly, "How much longer?" Instead they are toting around their timers and racing to beat the timer. And I constantly get sidetracked on my own keeping track of how long I tell them they have to do something. Now I set the timer and off they go!
The reviews online had tons of other great ideas, too. So are you a timer addict like me? What all do you use your timer(s) for?
WE just use it for meals mostly, but Hannah LOVES the timer and will time us at just about anything if we let her. :-) Great idea!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. I might have to take the plunge.
ReplyDeleteI want to know. Do they have them for adults. I could use one when I hear just a minute and 15minutes later I am still waiting!!!
